The Farmer Rail Car Coalition has received a response from the Auditor General of Canada.  A few weeks ago the Coalition asked Sheila Fraser to investigate the past maintenance agreement for the federal hopper car fleet.
President Sinclair Harrison says they have received a letter back from the Auditor General's office stating the request has been passed onto an audit team.  The Coalition has stated, based on a report conducted by the Canadian Transportation Agency, growers are overpaying for maintenance to the tune of $30 million per year.  Harrison wants to know where that money has gone, and whether or not it is recoupable from the railways.
