A 44 year-old man from Grunthal is facing numerous charges after a hazardous pursuit Sunday night.
Just before 7 pm, R.C.M.P. spotted a blue GMC half ton being driven erratically on highway #59 near St. Pierre.
The driver refused to stop and the chase was on. He went east on highway #52, then south on provincial road #216 through Kleefeld, then onto Evergreen Lane and eventually turned onto a dead end road. Police blocked in the vehicle but the driver maneuvered around them. An officer managed to open the passenger door, but the driver accelerated and dragged him a short distance before he was able to climb into the vehicle and force an end to the incident. The officer was not hurt. Charges include failing to provide a breath sample, impaired driving, driving while disqualified, dangerous driving and fleeing from police. His name has not yet been released.
