A house southwest of Grunthal is a total loss following a fire late Monday morning.

Hanover Fire Chief Paul Wiebe says crews were dispatched to a structure fire around 11:45 A.M. two miles south and one mile west of Grunthal.

"When our crews got here we had a fully involved structure, about a 1,100 square foot house with an attached garage. Grunthal immediately got Kleefeld rolling to assist with mutual aid. Right now we got the fire knocked down, we are just working on taking care of some of the hot spots."

Wiebe says it took about an hour to extinguish the fire.

"There will be a few possessions that we can save, however, the house will be a complete loss. Whatever is standing is damaged pretty heavy so the structure will be a total loss."

Wiebe notes the Office of the Fire Commissioner has been called in to determine the cause of the blaze.
