Housing sales in Steinbach and area are holding steady. Peter Squire of the Multiple Listing Service office says sales of single family homes in the first quarter this year are identical to last year.

"86 last year and 86 this year. Where the difference is; listings have gone up as they have across the entire MLS system and that includes Steinbach. Listings are up about 30% from 204 in 2014 to 272 this year for the first three months."

Despite the rise in inventory, Squire notes the average selling price in Steinbach during the first three months this year was up $10,000.00 from last year to $256,000.00.

"I can't say that's the case in all MLS areas but certainly in Steinbach it's nice to see it (the price) is more than holding its own if you look at the first three months."

He says, with interest rates still at all time lows, the market remains very good for buyers while sellers should be pleased to see that prices are not dropping. Squire notes only three condos changed hands in Steinbach and area during the first three months of the year compared to ten last year.
