A goalie from Ste. Agathe is enjoying success with the Eastman Selects.

Isabelle Labossiere is a first-year goalie with the U15 squad and was named Goalie of the Week last month for Week 7 in the Manitoba Female Hockey League.

Labossiere was tasked with back-to-back starts on a tough northern road trip to Thompson where she backstopped the Selects to 2-0 and 7-1 wins over the Norman Wild, while stopping 38 shots in the process. The stellar weekend saw her record improve to 3-4 in MFHL action and lower her GAA to 3.29. - eastmanfemalebantamselects.com

“It means a lot,” she says. “It means that the (Selects) coaches and players are not the only ones that know I work hard. It means that others do, too, other coaches in the league.”

Labossiere says playing in net seems to be a good spot for her.

“When I played Timbits (soccer), I was always the one protecting the net,” she says. “And at school, when we played soccer, I would always be the first to the net. And once in hockey, someone asked a player to be the goalie and I offered. After that, I just loved it.”

Labossiere credits her teammates for helping improve her goaltending skills.
