There was a two-vehicle collision just after midnight Friday morning on Highway #12 at Provincial Road 303, or Ridge Road, two miles south of Steinbach.

Deputy Steinbach Fire Chief Ron Chausse says both vehicles were in the west side ditch along Highway #12 when they arrived on scene. He adds there was one driver in each vehicle and they were treated and released.

He explains what happened.

"At this time, we believe one driver did not negotiate the stop sign on Ridge Road but the RCMP are investigating."

Chausse says the fire department was there for about one hour to complete the clean-up.

Police say their investigation has so far determined that speed and alcohol were 'not' factors. They add the driver of the northbound vehicle was a 59-year-old male from Grunthal and the driver of the eastbound vehicle was a 19-year-old man from the RM of Hanover. The investigation continues.
