Motorists travelling through Steinbach can expect construction delays later this summer as the Manitoba government prepares to begin the next phase of a major resurfacing project on Provincial Trunk Highway 12.

According to a provincial spokesperson, Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure will complete a 12.2-kilometre surface rehabilitation project on the southbound lanes of PTH 12, stretching from the Seine River Diversion to 1.8 kilometres north of Park Road in Steinbach.

In addition, crews will mill and pave the lanes on PTH 12 between PTH 52 and Park Road in both the southbound and northbound directions.

The work is expected to begin in August and be completed by this fall.

The resurfacing is part of the province's previously announced $24-million investment in improvements along PTH 12, one of southeastern Manitoba's busiest transportation corridors.
