There was a three vehicle crash on the north edge of Steinbach Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Highway 12 and Clearsprings Road at 7:02 am.

According to Steinbach RCMP, it appears that two southbound vehicles and a northbound vehicle were all approaching that intersection at the same time. At least two of the drivers have said that there was heavy rain at that hour, causing poor visibility. Then on top of that, there was a flash of lightning, which apparently caused the traffic signals to briefly flash amber.

RCMP say the two southbound vehicles stopped at the intersection and then started driving again when they were struck by a northbound vehicle turning west onto Clearsprings Road.

According to RCMP, the driver of the northbound vehicle was taken to hospital as a precaution. The other two drivers did not require hospitalization.

Police say there will be no charges. The three drivers were all from the Steinbach area.

Damage was significant enough that all three vehicles needed to be towed.
