Tyler Penner etched his name in the Pistons record books with a two goal game in a 2-1 victory over the Virden Oil Capitals Tuesday night.

The win gives the Pistons 85 points for the season, good enough for second place in the MJHL without needing the tie breaker. Head coach and GM Paul Dyck talks about the team doing what needed to be done. "Yeah a tough game to get up for, the game didn't have any consequences in terms in the standings for either club but we still had a game to play, we had a full house and it's a team we've struggled with this season. As a hockey player you strap the skates on you want to win every single hockey game and tonight, we did what was needed."

With Penner's 34th and 35th goals of the season, he now holds the Pistons record for goals in a season and points in a season (66). Head coach and GM had nothing but good things to say about Penner. "He's had an outstanding season, what a way to cap it off for him. We've been talking about Tyler since the first month of the season, it's his determination is what puts him in position to score goals and he wins so many puck battles down low. Him and Nick Deery are two reasons we have 85 points this season."

Dyck talked more about Deery, who recorded win 30 on the season and notched his 50th win in his career on the heels of being named MJHL Goalie of the Month. "He's the guy that wants to take us on a championship run, it's become ho-hum for him, but he has his mind set on things much greater then personal accolades. That's his ultimate goal."

The Pistons have to wait to see who their opponent will be in the first round of the playoffs. The Survivor Series start on Thursday with Selkirk (7th) vs OCN (10th) and Waywaysecappo (8th) vs Dauphin (9th). The first game will be in Steinbach regardless of opponent March 11th.
