A goal against midway through the third period put the Steinbach Pistons down and despite some excellent chances, they couldn't get game 7 of the MJHL Finals back to even ground as the Dauphin Kings won the Turnbull Trophy 2-1 on Wednesday night.

A crowd of over 1400 were in attendance to take in the deciding game and they were brought to their feet in the first by the Pistons shorthanded unit.

After killing one penalty earlier, the Pistons forced an offensive zone face-off. They won the draw thanks to Davis Fry who got the puck back to Bryce Kilbourne who fired a puck through traffic. The original shot was stopped but the rebound was there for Dawson Milliken who scored his 4th of the playoffs to give Steinbach a 1-0 lead.

Both goalies were tested throughout the first as Steinbach pushed for more but just couldn't get that lead to grow through the opening period.

In the second period, the Kings found the equalizer shorthanded themselves to tie the game 1-1.

Dauphin turned things up in the middle frame, putting Steinbach on their heels and playing lock-down defence.

In the third, a costly turnover in front of the Pistons net resulted in the Kings getting the go-ahead goal to take a 2-1 lead late in the third. 

Steinbach pushed but just couldn't get the game tied and the Kings were able to hold on and win the Turnbull Trophy.

Will Hambley was a star in goal for the Steinbach Pistons, making 17 saves, giving his team a chance throughout the game and series.

Steinbach's power play was 0-4 while the penalty kill was 2-2.

Dauphin will represent the MJHL at the Centennial Cup in Estevan, Saskatchewan.

Carson Cherepak, goaltender of the Kings was named the MJHL playoff MVP.
