The Steinbach Pistons 20 year-old forward Myles Nykoluk was named the MJHL player of the week.

Between December 2nd and the 9th, Nykoluk tallied 2G/3A for five points in 3 games, helping the Pistons win two out of the three games.

"I thought Myles was very deserving of the award," says Pistons Head Coach Paul Dyck. "He brings a lot to the table. He is a gritty guy, he brings leadership and he's a very determined hockey player. He has been a great addition to us and I think as we head towards the playoffs he will help us even more."

The Winnipeg native continues to make an impact since being acquired from the Virden Oil Capitals, recording 4G/8A for 12 points in 13 games with the Pistons; 11 of those points have came in the past eight games.

"I don't think anything has changed about my game," says Nykoluk about his game now picking up in the past eight games. "I just stuck with what I was originally doing and just started putting the puck in the net."

The Pistons are 5-4-1 in their past ten games and are currently holding onto the final playoff spot with a one point lead over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. Nykoluk says that he believes the team is ready to make a playoff push heading into the second half of the season.

"I like our team. We have always had it was just the fact of putting a 60 minutes game together. We are starting to do that and we are getting results."

The Pistons travel to Nykoluk's former stomping grounds in Virden to square off against the Virden Oil Capitals Saturday evening 7:30pm at the Virden Recreational Facility.
