Eligibility for second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine has been expanded to include people who received their first dose on or before May 10th.

The province says it is very important to note that only those eligible to book appointments based on the date of their first dose or other provincial criteria should book second-dose appointments at this time.

Additionally, all Indigenous people in Manitoba and individuals with specific health conditions are also eligible to book their second dose, as long as they meet the minimum time interval between doses. All people aged 12 and up are eligible to book their first-dose appointments.

A total of 1,045,956 doses of vaccine have been administered in Manitoba.

As of Monday afternoon, 71.5% of Manitobans 18+ and 69.3% of Manitobans 12+ have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

According to Manitoba’s Chief Provincial Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin, the province is currently on track to reach the targets for July 1st set out in the reopening plan last week. The target is to have over 70% of all Manitobans aged 12 and over with their first dose and over 25% of Manitobans with their second dose by Canada Day.

If those numbers are reached, businesses, services and facilities can open at 25% capacity or greater.

If you are looking to get a first dose, you can always book an appointment at the Steinbach supersite. The province is also running a walk-in vaccine clinic at the Leila supersite (770 Leila Ave.) in Winnipeg this week for first-dose immunizations.

Walk-in hours include:

  • June 15 from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
  • June 16 from 1 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
  • June 17 from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

To date, 1,154,390 doses of vaccine have been delivered to Manitoba. This includes:

  • 829,530 doses of Pfizer vaccine.
  • 233,100 doses of the Moderna vaccine.
  • 91,760 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Manitoba is expecting delivery of 87,750 doses of Pfizer and 105,000 of Moderna this week.
