Snowplows hit the streets of Steinbach at four o'clock Thursday morning, cleaning up from the latest snowfall. About three inches or nearly eight centimetres of snow fell overnight.

Randy Reimer, Head of Public Works says the snow fell before they were able to clear all of the streets from last weekend's snowfall. As a result, he says those streets will be in worst shape this morning.

According to Reimer, snowplows Thursday morning first hit main routes in the downtown core area before targeting some of the streets that had yet to be touched since last weekend.

He suggests it will be for sure Saturday, if not Sunday before all streets are cleared. Reimer expects snowplows will be out yet earlier on Friday and Saturday than they were today.

Meanwhile, Reimer asks motorists to refrain from parking on streets until after plows have been through. He notes there are certain areas of the city where this tends to be the biggest problem. In places where apartments have recently gone up, Reimer says there is often street parking. Reimer says it is those areas that are challenging for snow clearing crews.
