The Carillon Sultans lost both ends of a doubleheader to the Stonewall Blue Jays Thursday night at Quarry Park. The Jays took the opener 9-8 in extra innings. Yanykk Nadeau had three hits, two runs scored and had two RBIs for Carillon while Nate Christiuk had two hits and drove in four. Stonewall took the second game 5-1 as the Sultans were held to just two hits. Carillon has an 11-7 record and will face the Winnipeg Senior Baseball League leading West Winnipeg A's Tuesday at Charleswood Park. 


Carillon will meet Winnipeg South and Elmwood today at Baseball Manitoba's Provincial 18U AAA Tier One championship at Charleswood Park. The Senior AA Provincials are on this weekend in Morden. Softball Manitoba's Provincial U15 AAA championship is in Brandon and the Provincial U17 AAA championship is in Stonewall.


Team Manitoba scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and beat Ontario (2) 16-9 in their opening round robin game at the 2023 Baseball Canada Women's Invitational Championship in Upper Sackville, Nova Scotia. Vassar's Caitlyn Culleton drove in three runs for Team Manitoba who will meet Quebec (2) and Nova Scotia today in Halifax.


Dayson Croes drilled a two-out two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning and Max Murphy added a solo shot in the fourth as the Winnipeg Goldeyes shaded the Sioux City Explorers 3-2 at Shaw Park. The Fish have won five in row matching a season high. 


Colwyn Abgrall of Golf Tec Winnipeg has the lead heading into the final round of the PGA of Manitoba Championship. The 2019 Manitoba men's amateur champion carded seven birdies and fired a six-under par 66 Thursday at the Niakwa Country Club in Winnipeg. Devon Schade of Larter's and Terry Reilly of the host course are three shots back. Brian Guenther of the Steinbach Fly-In golf club opened with an eight over par 80; Darren Hayden of Quarry Oaks was 82; Ian Penner of Quarry Oaks was 84 and Ivan Koop of Grand Pines was 89.


Eileen Park of Red Deer won the 68th Canadian Junior Girls Golf Championship in Hampton, New Brunswick. Park finished with a 72-hole total of three-under par 281. Cala Korman of Killarney was five-over par 76 Thursday and finished in a tie for 35th place at plus 23. Addison Kartusch of Winnipeg was 77 and plus 26 while Jeri Lafleche of Winnipeg was 79 and plus 29. 


Judith Kyrinis of Thornhill, Ontario captured the Canadian Women's Mid-Amateur Championship in Creemore, Ontario. Kyrinis was eight-over par 80 in her final round and finished with a 54-hole total of six-over par 222. Marissa Naylor was the low Manitoban. She was 13-over par 85 Thursday and finished in a tie for 22nd place at plus 28. Charmaine Hayden was 85 and plus 29; Hannah Diamond was 88 and plus 41; Katherine McGlenen was 84 and plus 44 while Nicole McGlenen was 86 and plus 57.
