The semifinals are set in the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League playoffs. The Steinbach Huskies will meet the Niverville Clippers and the Springfield Xtreme will take on the Red River Mudbugs. Bryson Loewen and Braden Hildebrand scored two goals each as the Mudbugs downed the Macdonald Swarm 5-1 in the deciding fifth game of their opening round series.


The Beausejour Comets dropped a 3-2 decision to the Selkirk Fishermen. The Comets will face the Lundar Falcons in the opening round of the Capital Region Junior Hockey League playoffs. The first place Fishermen and second place St. Malo Warriors have a bye to the semifinals.


The Eastman Selects lost 3-2 in double overtime to Yellowhead Sunday in Niverville. Ginger Fast and Jenna Sellen did the goal scoring for the Selects. The Chiefs lead the Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League’s best-of-five quarterfinal two games to none. Game three goes this afternoon in Shoal Lake.


Luc De Gagne scored twice and Jaxon Loewen made 35 saves as the Eastman Selects won their regular season finale 5-2 over the Wheat Kings in Brandon. The Selects will meet the Winnipeg Bruins in the opening round of the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League playoffs.


The Winnipeg Jets dropped a 4-2 decision to New Jersey. Cole Perfetti and Neal Pionk did the goal scoring for the Jets lead 2-1 after the first period.


The Manitoba Moose lost 5-4 in a shootout to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Wyatt Bongiovanni, Leon Gawanke, Jansen Harkins and Axel Jonsson-Fjallby each had a goal and an assist for the Moose.


Kerri Einarson has a 3-0 record, Jennifer Jones and Kaitlyn Lawes are 2-1 and Meghan Walter is 1-2 at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kamloops.
