The Eastman Selects five-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday night. The defending Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League champion Winnipeg Wild scored twice in the third period and beat Eastman 4-2. Calem Normandeau and Easton Gaffray shorthanded did the goal scoring for the Selects. The game was scoreless after the first period and tied 2-2 after 40 minutes. Eastman’s Francois Gagnon made 25 saves.


The Winnipeg Jets claimed forward Karson Kuhlman off waivers from the Seattle Kraken. The 27-year-old Esko, Minnesota native had one goal and two assists in 14 games with Seattle this season. The Kraken had claimed Kuhlman off waivers from the Boston Bruins last January.


The Manitoba Moose recalled forward Colin Bilek for the ECHL’s Trois-Rivieres Lions. The Michigan native had eight goals and eight assists in 21 games with the Lions this season.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American cornerback Winston Rose to a one-year contract extension. He had been scheduled to become a free agent in February. The California native returns in 2023 for a fourth season with the Blue Bombers and his sixth in the CFL. Rose started 17 regular season games as well as the West Division final and Grey Cup in 2022. He finished second on the team in tackles with 66 while adding three interceptions including a Pick-6, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and seven pass knockdowns. Rose had eight tackles and an interception in the West final and another five tackles in the Grey Cup.
