Department head Russ Dyck says they have turned on the ice plant at the arena and it should be ready to go for the September long weekend.
The ice will be busy right from the start with the Eastman Selects camp followed by the minor hockey camps.  Dyck says they did some general maintenance work on the arena over the summer including some painting and replacing a few sections of the roof.  Meantime parks and rec staff had to do some shuffling of duties this summer due to all the hot, dry weather.  There was less mowing to do so instead they planted trees and spent more time watering the flowers and shrubs.
