Ang Boychuk of the Vita Canada Day Committee is eager to welcome guests from communities near and far to the 25th Anniversary Vita Canada Day Celebration.

“It is the 25th anniversary,” says Boychuk, “but really, this is the second go-round. The community of Vita has been celebrating Canada Day since the 1970s. There was a ball tournament, a parade, a dance, the canteen, kids’ games, and a perogy and sausage supper. Eventually that died out as volunteers became harder and harder to find. So, in 1998, 25 years ago, a woman named Tina Bergen brought it back to life. So that’s the 25th anniversary we’re celebrating this year!”

Every year, the Canada Day Committee strives to make the festivities bigger and better, all while keeping attractions affordable for families and appealing for a wide range of ages. Special events this year include lawn mower races, Monster Bingo, and CWE wrestling, a first in Vita’s history.

Musical guests to grace the stage are Almost Famous and The Music Men, and visitors are sure to find something for every taste at the local vendor booths and food trucks. Beyond food and music, the weekend is filled to the brim.

“We have the pancake breakfast, our annual parade, the ball tournament, a strongman competition, and lots of kids’ activities.” Boychuk continues. “There’s the rodeo ring event, mounted shooting, team roping. We have an MBRA, and also a gymkhana. Plus arm wrestling, and chainsaw carving. And then, of course, we’ll end the day with our famous Vita fireworks!”

Fireworks at Vita Canada Day

CanFire Pyrotechnics has been lighting up Vita’s skies for years, and they’re sure to put on something special for this anniversary celebration. Over the years, the Committee has come to expect a large and varied turnout, and that’s exactly what they’re hoping for in 2023.

Vita’s Canada Day celebration is coming up June 30th to July 2nd in Vita. For more information about events, attractions, and volunteer opportunities, visit the Vita Canada Day Facebook page
