The Highway 12 and Loewen Boulevard construction project continues to progress. Crews are currently paving the northbound lanes of Highway 12, and new traffic lights have been installed at the intersection. According to City of Steinbach Head of Engineering Aaron Rach, most of the underground infrastructure along Highway 12 is under the southbound lanes and was completed last year, with only a few customer connections under the northbound lanes. With the underground work complete, construction on the road surface is well underway. However, Rach notes the underground infrastructure on the Loewen Boulevard portion of the project was being replaced this year. He notes that work should be done soon, at which point, crews will begin surface works on Loewen.
