The Munschbusters were in Steinbach Friday evening solving strange happenings.

Actress Robyn Slade, with Prairie Theatre Exchange, says they used the Ghostbusters theme to recreate Alligator BabyThe DarkThe Boy In The DrawerGood Families Don't, and The Mud Puddle. There was lots of laughter from the sold-out crowd that filled the Steinbach Regional Secondary School theatre.

"As we tell the Munsch stories the separate story from that is that the Munschbusters [are approached by] a girl named Cassie. She comes to us and says, 'you've got to help me, my parents have been trapped by the dark.' So we have to review all these old cases to try and figure out how we can help her."

Slade says her favourite Robert Munsch book is Purple, Green, and Yellow.

"It's a really fun story about a little girl who wants these colouring markers. She begs her mom for them and her mom finally gives in, but she has to promise that she's not going to draw on the wall and she's not going to draw on herself, but she does. She keeps asking for more and more complicated markers until, eventually, she asks for this particular set that will never wash off. Her mom agrees and gives the markers to her daughter and her daughter draws on the walls and on herself. She then has to live the rest of her life, after she's coloured herself back in, as a normal person."

The Munsch shows have been running for 30 years and Slade says it's incredible to see how much impact these stories continue to have on individuals of any age and are entertaining the new generations.
