A couple of SRSS Sabres have returned from Nova Scotia where they were part of the Canada Cup U18 Football team.

Keone Montrose-Rodgers and Eric Adams had the experience of a lifetime getting to play high level football on the East Coast. As Eric explains, the process of making the team started back in January. "There were three phases of tryouts. Starting off with 160 kids. We worked hard and the coaches liked us and we got on that roster."

For Eric and Keone, the schedule leading up was a hectic one. "We were practicing leading up to it every day." Eric said on Monday morning. "Three or four hours with no days off. It's lots of wear on the body."

Once they made the team, they played 3 games over a 10 day period but continued to practice every day.

Eric and Keone knew that they had a great opportunity to open some eyes during this event and that's what they wanted to do. "Because, while you're out there it's a showcase for the best players in Canada." Keone said. "All the scouts are there and you can show off your talent and skills."

An aspect that hasnt quite sunk in yet is the fact that Keone Montrose-Rodgers and Eric Adams are two of the best football players in Canada for their age. "I was thinking about it yesterday." Keone said "I was just saying it to myself in my head and wow. I was on that roster. I was one of the best players in Manitoba."

"It's a surreal thought." added Eric. "I got to go to a national level to play football."
