A 12 year-old girl from Steinbach was rushed to hospital Wednesday by STARS air ambulance following a collision on Provincial Road 206 near Randolph.

RCMP report it happened about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of PR 206 and Municipal Road 39. They say an eastbound SUV, driven by a 41-year-old man from New Bothwell, failed to stop at the stop sign there and struck a northbound SUV which was carrying four people. One of them, a 12-year-old girl from Steinbach, was ejected from the vehicle and transported to hospital in critical condition. She has since been upgraded to stable. Police say it's believed the girl was not wearing a seatbelt.

Investigators add alcohol is not considered as a factor in the collision. There is no word yet on charges.
