Approximately 160 people took part in the annual Life Hike in Steinbach Saturday morning.

Yvette Chartier is a committee member with Life's Vision La Broquerie Steinbach. She says they are a branch of Life's Vision Winnipeg.

"We just serve in our area here and so every year we do a Life Hike to promote not having any abortions and also awareness for the sacredness of life from conception to the natural death."

Chartier says last year 50 people took part in the hike so this is a huge step forward. She notes participants met at K.R. Barkman Park at 10:30 a.m. for registration and the Life Hike kicked off at 11. She notes some participants even brought their own signs for the hike.

"We are going to walk down Main Street, we usually do a couple of blocks and then come back. We start at K.R. Barkman Park and we just walk all the way to the Credit Union and then come back. We have a table with some pamphlets and stuff like that, some information if people want. We are there to answer questions if people have and it is just to bring awareness."

Chartier says alongside awareness they accepted pledges from some participants and all of the money collected went to Life's Vision.
