'Sidewalk Sale Days' now 'Sales in the City'

For over half a century, it was known as 'Sidewalk Sale Days', but no longer.  Instead, say hello to 'Sales in the City'.  That's the re-branded name to help breathe new life into the deal-hunting bonanza.  It also coincides nicely with the 'Summer in the City' festival.

Kyla Murray works with the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce and is helping to coordinate the 'Sales' event.  Murray says it was time for a change.

"A lot of people are ready for a re-branding, ready for a new name.  It's also given us the ability to incorporate the businesses across the city, and not just the ones on Main Street like it's been for years."

And the response to the re-branding has been fantastic.  There are already double the number of businesses involved over last year and Murray says there's always room for more.

"We're definitely not capped at 45, we'd like to see it grow.  We've already doubled this year, I think we can easily double next year and the sky's the limit.  We've got great businesses in Steinbach and, if everyone gets involved, we can really make this thing a huge success."

Murray adds for businesses, it's not just about sales.

"We've got some businesses that are going to put on great sales, great deals for the three days, and we've got others that are going to do more of a customer appreciation thing.  They'll have coffee and donuts, and spend some time appreciating their customers and celebrating business in Steinbach."

For those people planning to go down and check out the festival, Murray says you'll know the businesses taking part in the 'Sales' event by the banner hanging in their store or on their booth.  Or, for a full list of merchants taking part, check out the Chamber website at steinbachchamberofcommerce.com.
