The Office of the Fire Commissioner has released the cause of the barn fire near La Broquerie yesterday afternoon.

Crews were called out shortly before 1 pm to a farmyard just south of town on Provincial Road 302 where an older dairy barn was well up in flames. The OFC says the investigation determined the cause of the fire to be accidental due to an electrical short in the wiring. Damage is estimated at $400,000. There were no animals lost or people injured in the fire.
