Steinbach city council has awarded a contract to Maple Leaf Construction for this year's pavement management program and sidewalk construction. The work includes the re-paving of Hespeler Street from Loewen Boulevard to Evergreen Avenue as well as sidewalk construction along Lyndhurst Gate, Brighton Lane, Parkhill Crescent and Kroeker Avenue. Maple Leaf had the lowest of six bids at just under $600,000.

Meanwhile, Keewatin Truck Services has won the contract to supply the Steinbach Fire Department with a new rescue truck. Its bid was the only one that met specifications set out for the new vehicle. The truck will cost $784,000 and will be ready for delivery in about a year.
