With temperatures in the double digits on Thursday, a couple of Steinbach Pistons took advantage of the warm weather by joining city crews with a task that will brighten our streets for Christmas.

Forwards Brett Kaiser and Leo Chambers were spotted hanging Christmas lights on trees along Main Street.

Each year, city employees put up around 36,000 LED lights on approximately 110 trees.

While the lights won’t be turned on for a few more weeks, this task is much easier to complete before the temperatures dip below zero.

We can expect a warm day again tomorrow, but it will also be rainy and windy. The weekend weather should be nice with highs above 10 and a bit of sunshine.

Monday will be cooler with a daytime temperature around 6C and a low of –8.

By mid-November, we can expect the city to turn on the Christmas lights to brighten Main Street during the longer nights. Trees are also lit up across City Hall, by the water tower, and by the KR Barkman Park gazebo.
