A repaving project in the Meadows area of Steinbach is progressing quickly thanks to continued dry weather. Crews moved into the area of Giesbrecht Street, south of Mckenzue Avenue, right after the May long weekend. Phil Kalyta, the city's head engineer, says the contractor is getting near the finish point.

"Our concrete work was completed last week. Asphalt grinding or milling happened earlier this week and they anticipate asphalting should be completed by end of day Friday and possibly Monday. That project is going very well."

Kalyta adds boulevards there will be sodded next week.

Elsewhere, he says concrete work has been completed on the new sidewalk along Clearwater Avenue and landscaping is underway.

Meanwhile, water main renewal projects continue on Oak Crescent, Loewen Bouelvard at Oak Crescent and on Wilson Street.

"They're a little tougher projects, the renewals, because they are working around a lot of underground infrastructure, but generally that work is progressing well with no major incidents."
