Lund Road just north of Highway 52 is closed to traffic this Wednesday morning as the Steinbach Fire Department cleans up a diesel fuel spill.

The call came in at around 7:50 a.m. Fire Chief Kel Toews says when they arrived a fuel tanker with a leak was blocking Lund Road.

"We have a semi-truck who, while backing up, hooked their fuel tank and broke off a fitting so we had a diesel fuel leak. It spilled onto the street. We have contained the leak. We are just waiting for mechanics to come now and do a more permanent fix on the leak and then we are waiting for some absorbent material so we can clean up the spill."

Toews says they were able to reopen Lund Road shortly before 11:30 a.m.
