The Jake Epp Library celebrated Family Literacy Day on Satuday.

Madison Friesen is the library's program coordinator and she says, "Family Literacy Day here in Steinbach actually started about 12 years ago and it was sanctioned by our mayor. It happens every January 27 and it's just a day we celebrate with families, literacy in the home."

Friesen says they decorated the library as a giant blanket fort, dressed in pajamas, had book readings, snacks, and lots of fun.

She adds Thursday is February 1, which kicks off I Love To Read month.

"We actually have a program for I Love To Read month called 'Blind Date With A Book'. It's for adults and children; we take books thorughout the library, wrap them up so you can't see what the book is, then we put a sticker on the front with the first sentence of the books."

Friesen says you can then pick the book you want to take home, sign it out, unwrap it and enjoy.
