The town of Ste. Anne saw strong growth in 2016, and that trend is projected to continue into 2017.

Operations Manager Marc Darker says 53 building permits were issued in 2016, which is more than double the previous year. The total construction value of the 27 permits issued in 2015 was $2,537,800.00 and the total for 2016 was $10,095,380.00. "Our increase has been strong over the years with the exception of 2015. It was a bit slower because we filled some of the homes that were built in 2014. The total construction value of permits in 2014 was $6,344,500."

Darker notes growth is projected to stay on course this year, as there are already a few multi-family housing units planned in Town, as well as a few 55 Plus units set to begin construction in February.

He suggests growth in Town has been steady because of it's proximity to Winnipeg and Steinbach. "Other than it's a great community, we offer services here that you don't get in a lot of small towns. You get a hospital, a police department, clinic, and a dental office, all with a small town feel."
