Adam Crookes was voted in as the new president of the Grunthal Motocross Board.

Crookes says he has been a part of the motorsport world in southeastern Manitoba for a long time and he thought it would be a good idea to give back. He notes the previous Grunthal Motocross president, Elvis Unrau, had been in the position for a long time and was looking for some change.

"The president and secretary and vice president, their terms were coming to an end and they had been around for a long time. The vice-president, he had been six-plus years, his wife was the secretary, she had been over three years and so beginning last spring they started talking to us a little bit, me and my wife, asking us to get involved and see how that felt."

Crookes says he allowed his name to stand in fall and was voted in. He notes the last board did an amazing job of setting things up for the future and the goal is now to continue to build on that and work with local riders to make Grunthal a destination in Manitoba.

"We have had a few meetings, we are going to continue to build on what they had, they had done a really good job. We are going to do track maintenance on it, nothing major but just continue to build on it and try to get people involved. It takes a lot of people to run that place, it is a big big thing so we are pretty excited about it."

Crookes says other new board members include Myron Penner, Adam Orvis, and his wife Karelle Crookes.
