From mud bog races to honey, one of the final weekends in August is festivities galore in the southeast.

Kick it off on Friday, August 25, at the St. Malo Summer Fun Day Arena Renovation Fundraiser at the St. Malo Arena.

Free activities include face painting, horse-drawn wagon rides, bouncy castles and more. For live entertainment, artists Catie St. Germain and Real Comeault will perform live at 6:30 PM.

Say hi at the St. Malo Summer Fun Day from 6 PM to 8 PM.

If go-kart races and mud bogs are what you’re looking for, then the Marchand Logging Day on Saturday, August 26, is your answer.

Go-kart races kick off at 10 AM and are brought by the competitors of the St. Labre 200. At 2:30 PM, Harel’s Manitoba Mafia will be joining for the mud bog.

They will also have a canteen, beer gardens, kids’ zone and an evening social which starts at 8 PM.

We will be in attendance with Wendy’s Show Us Your Summer from 10 AM TO 12 PM.

Wrap up Saturday with a sweet 53rd annual event, the Kleefeld Honey Festival. Find us there from 2 PM to 5 PM.

From a chicken dinner to a beach volleyball tournament, there are many activities to check out. The day kicks off with a free pancake breakfast at 7:30 AM. There will also be a vendors’ market, a petting zoo, a parade, a firefighter competition and more. A fireworks show will be wrapping up the evening.

As for the honey part of the name, local honey makers will sell their products on-site.

For Ukraine Independence Day, the Ukrainian Association of Steinbach is hosting a celebration at the K.R. Barkman Park on Sunday, August 27, from 2 PM to 8 PM, and everyone is invited to come.

There will be a Ukrainian concert with speeches, which starts at 2:30 PM. Attendees are also encouraged to bring potluck dishes to share. Other activities include a silent auction, children’s craft corner and local vendors selling Ukrainian items.

We will join the celebration from 2:30 PM to 5 PM with Wendy’s Show Us Your Summer.
