The Hanover School Division has released a statement regarding serious charges against a former teacher and coach at the SRSS but has declined to answer any questions from the media.

Parents of SRSS students received an email this morning from the school division that advises of ‘allegations of a sensitive nature involving one of its former staff members.’

Hanover School Division reports that upon becoming aware of the allegations, the division placed the staff member on immediate leave.

It reads, “We recognize that these allegations and the announcement of charges will be disturbing and unsettling for many students, their families, as well as staff. We share your concern in this matter. Our priority has, and always will be, the safety and well-being of our students.”

The statement goes on to say the division will not provide further information at this time, to protect the privacy of the individuals involved.

Earlier this morning, RCMP held a press conference to announce the charges against 41-year-old David Bueti of Winnipeg. He has been charged with five counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual interference. He was released from custody on a release order with a number of conditions.
