The Steinbach Huskies won 11 straight games enroute to capturing the Hanover-Tache Junior Hockey League championship last season.

The defending champions are off to a pretty impressive start this post-season.

Brayden Delvecchio, Arnell Evans and Brendan Blezy had two goals each and Haden Hiebert had a goal and three assists as Steinbach beat the Mohawks 11-1 Wednesday night in Mitchell.

Brad Friesen, Dalton Reimer, Mack Penner and Jeremy Levesque also scored for the Huskies.

Darcy Henry had the lone goal for the Mohawks.

Steinbach goaltender Spencer Broesky stopped 26 shots while Mitchell netminder Luke Friesen faced 51 shots.

The Huskies had a 2-1 lead after the first period and then scored four times in the middle frame and five more in the final 20 minutes.

Game two in the best-of-five opening round series goes Sunday in Steinbach.
