On March 1st, the beloved Muscle Matters name will be no more. But fans of the spa-like wellness studio can rest assured knowing they’re still here – with a beautiful new look and name!

Owner Lindsay Penner explains, “The name Muscle Matters was great when we were solely a massage therapy business. But we’ve grown and by now there are just as many people on the esthetic side as there are in massage. I realized our name needed to grow too. Our new name, Embody Wellness Studio and Clinic, pulls it all together.”

Though the name is new, everything else about the business has remained the same, assures Penner.

“It’s still us! You'll find the same phone number, the same staff. The treatments are still the same. Everyone you meet here continues to be empowered to provide truly great service.”

Though most people will book appointments online, many others stop in simply to shop.

“The first person you’ll see when you walk in the door is Savanna,” shares Penner. “She provides customer service at the front desk and takes care of the retail side of things. We’ve chosen items that complement what we do here. Beautiful candles and body care products, all created locally. Of course jewelry, art for your walls, and some wonderful bath salts to help you relax at home.”

On the clinic side of the business, they have a therapist who is certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Penner says that many people with conditions that create swelling in the body will get medical referrals for this treatment, and it’s eligible for insurance coverage.

On the esthetic side, Embody provides Intense Pulse Light (IPL) therapy, laser hair removal, photofacials, and has a skincare specialist on staff who provides custom facials.

“And brow and lash treatments. Threading. Waxing and sugaring. I think I got it all!” laughs Penner as she strives to list all Embody’s offerings from memory.

How are therapeutic massage and relaxation massage different? Penner explains.

“If you book an appointment for a therapeutic massage, you're looking to fix something. You're looking to improve the way that your body, specifically your soft tissues, are working for you right now. You might come in with an injury or some kind of pain, and we're working to fix that.”

On the other hand, a relaxation massage will be a soothing, lighter, more calming treatment designed to relieve stress.

Penner says that generally, they work somewhere between the two.

“I’d always envisioned growing to the point where I wouldn’t be doing all the hands-on treatment myself, but I never imagined it would become this,” reflects Penner. “I’m so proud of the relaxing atmosphere and amazing team we’ve built here.”

Embody Wellness Studio and Clinic is located next to Bake World inside the Shoppers Plaza Mall. The mall itself is situated behind Earl’s Meat Market, on Main Street in downtown Steinbach.
