The La Broquerie Fire HallThe La Broquerie Fire Department was called to a grass fire on Road 37N northwest of La Broquerie at approximately 2:30 Friday afternoon.

La Broquerie Fire Chief Al Nadeau says the fire was started when a green branch from a tree fell on a hydro line. He notes the fire department was able to get there before it got out of control.

“We caught it fairly quickly, it was encroaching into the back of a small farm, and we managed to get it out quickly. It was about two or three acres.”

Nadeau says it is very dry out there and any kind of spark could set off a grass fire, especially when you have high winds.
