There was a puddle of oil Wednesday morning on southbound Highway #12 at Park Road.

A motorist told us just after 6:00 a.m. that it was slippery and his vehicle was nearly rear-ended.

There's no word on where the oil came from but it appears someone may have blown an engine or transmission.

Steinbach Fire Chief Kel Toews says by the time he was notified, traffic had worked most of the oil into the pavement and no further action will be taken by the department. He adds Manitoba Infrastructure will be notified about the incident and it's up to them whether any remedial work is required.
