The Rural Municipality of Stuartburn says it has been looking into repairing an ongoing drainage issue along Provincial Road 201, just west of Sundown.

Chief Administrative Officer Lucie Maynard says the municipality had been lobbying the Manitoba Infrastructure for the last number of years to have the ditch cleaned out to allow for proper drainage on the nearby farms.

"So the municipality, on behalf of the ratepayers decided to meet with highways to try and get permission for the RM to undertake it themselves. It looks as though it should be moving forward. We had to get some new surveys done and get the landowners to sign some right of entry forms so that we can play any material on their property."

Maynard notes they are currently tendering the project and hope to have it completed before winter or early spring. She estimates the project will take about two weeks to complete.

"It all depends on if any of the culverts need to be replaced."

She says the municipality has also met with Manitoba Infrastructure in regards to another drainage issue on Provincial Road 302 about three miles north of Provincial Road 201.
