Hot, dry conditions have prompted the province to cancel burning permits in eastern and central Manitoba. Manitoba Sustainable Development and the Office of the Fire Commissioner say the change in weather has elevated the wildfire danger levels in many areas.

No open burning is allowed without a permit between April 1st and November 15th. Municipalities often implement their own restrictions and it is encouraged to check with local municipal offices for further information on bans or restrictions.

In areas where all-terrain vehicle use is authorized, riders are asked to stay on developed trails, to stop frequently to check for debris around the engine or exhaust and to carry a small shovel, axe and fire extinguisher at all times.
