Officials in the RM of Morris are challenging the 2021 census results for the municipality.

According to the data released earlier this year, the RM of Morris saw a 0.1% increase in population between 2016 and 2021. Registering 3,047 residents in 2016, the data shows that number grew by just two people by 2021.

"We know that that's wrong," said Reeve Ralph Groening.

me every home has three people, that is an additional 250 people that we would suggest, and we will suggest to the census people, should be the true number for the RM of Morris."

As a result, the Municipality will be filing an official appeal.

Groening explained, it is important that this data be correct.

"Population is used for many grant procedures, both for the Province of Manitoba and the federal Gas Tax program. So, it is in our financial interest to have an accurate number but it is also important to have a true representation of the growth."
