Two people are facing charges following a traffic stop in Steinbach at 11:40 Saturday night. RCMP say the stopped a vehicle on 4th Street, near the corner of Reimer Avenue and Brandt Street. It had been reported stolen to St. Pierre RCMP. Officers searched the vehicle and report they found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, cash, evidence of trafficking and evidence of identity theft. 32 year-old Jean Pierre Gagnon was arrested an charged with drug, theft and liquor offences as well as driving while disqualified, identity theft and possession of stolen property. A female passenger, 33 year-old Tami Renz, was charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, identity theft and possession of stolen property.

A 22 year-old male has been charged following an alleged assault that occurred November 1st. Steinbach RCMP say it happened around midnight that Sunday morning in the RM of Hanover. Joshua Karlenzig is facing two counts of assault and one charge of uttering threats. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled May 20th.

RCMP say they arrested a male in Steinbach last Wednesday for breach of probation. They say 23 year-old Tanner Vogt was taken into custody during a traffic stop on McKenzie Avenue east of Highway #12 in the late afternoon. He was remanded into custody on two counts of breach of probation. Vogt was released Friday on a promise to appear in court this Thursday in Steinbach.
