RCMP have released more information about a vehicle fire on the Trans-Canada highway Monday afternoon. Spokesperson Tara Seel says it occurred in the westbound lanes near East Braintree. She explains it was a semi truck full of bread that went up in smoke.

"What happened was a wheel caught fire and that spread to the cab which eventually led to the entire vehicle going up in flames. The highway was closed between approximately 4:30 and 7:00. The RCMP were then able to open up one lane, as traffic was quite backed up, and we were able to clear traffic out. We then had to close the highway for another 45 minutes or so to finalize the scene."

Seel says the 50 year-old male driver, from Toronto, was taken to hospital for a check-up but police say his injuries did not appear to be serious.
