Over 475 families accessed the Steinbach Family Resource Centre last year and with the money raised at Thursday's banquet, the centre will continue its service in the community.

Executive Director Jo-Anne Dalton explains all the money raised will go towards their operating costs as well as facilitating their programs. She says they have over 30 programs running every month which are geared to help young parents raise their children up to six years of age.

Board Chair Carmel Wiebe thanks the community for their support as the centre has continued to grow over the years. She notes the work their volunteers do in the community is essential.

"We work hard in the community with our young people who are going to be our future, the future adults of this community," says Wiebe, "I think I need to say that over and over again to remind myself that we are raising the next generation and I"m so proud to be a part of that."

Dalton says they had raised $23,000 heading into the evening but haven't counted the rest of the number up yet.
