Over one hundred Loewen employees were forced outside after the fire alarm sounded around 4:40 PM Thursday afternoon.

Steinbach Fire Crews quickly arrived on scene and were able to identify the problem.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Mike Penner, a piece of equipment within the window factory had an electrical issue that caused some smoke. An employee who noticed the smoke pulled the alarm.

All Loewen staff members remained outside for roughly 20 minutes while fire crews investigated the scene. They were allowed to return to work when it was determined safe to do so.
