William Middleton, a member of the Eastman Flames, finished at the top of the podium in his division after the Men’s 100-meter snowshoe race.

“I can’t believe my eyes,” he says.

Middleton feels good about his performance on day 1 of snowshoe competitions in his first trip to the national event.

“It was nice and clean, the best running in snowshoes I ever ran before. So neat, so tidy. A really good run.”

He says just getting to the winter games is a dream come true, so winning a gold medal feels incredible.
