Southeast Helping Hands received $4,053 and 1,250 cans of food from Steinbach Sobeys as a result of their Christmas collection and Pistons canned food drive.

Lee Kotowicz is the Steinbach Sobeys Franchise Owner and Operator. He says during the Christmas season they collected donations from customers and the canned goods were collected at last week Friday's Steinbach Pistons game.

"We did a canned goods drive where we had told our customers and also they were notified through the Steinbach Pistons website that if they brought a canned good to the game or purchased one at the game from us, we would match that and all proceeds were going towards Southeast Helping Hands."

Kotowicz notes the generous Pistons fans donated 625 cans which Sobeys matched. He notes it is amazing to see the generosity of the Southeast.

"It is actually overwhelming because if you think about it, everybody has expenses, especially around the holiday season, but when they hear about such a good cause, people that need the local food bank, everybody is more than willing to give, and whether it is two dollars here or you have customers that say 'put me down for $20'."

Kotowicz says they chose Southeast Helping Hands because of the amazing work they do to help those in need.
