The Carillon Sultans winning streak has reached six games. Linden Meilleur and Austin Friesen combined on a one-hitter as Carillon defeated the St. Boniface Legionaires 3-0 Wednesday night in Ile des Chenes. James Pinchin's one-out single in the top of the fourth off Meilleur was the only hit for the Legionaires. Cody Gunderson had three hits and scored a run for the Sultans. Mason Hartung and Michel Nadeau each had an rbi. St. Boniface leads the Manitoba Junior Baseball League standings with a 12-7 record. Carillon is in second place at 11-7 and will face the Interlake Blue Jays Friday night at A.D. Penner Park in Steinbach.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes lost their fifth straight home game Wednesday night.  Zane Zurbrugg hit the second pitch of the game down the left field line for a homer as the Lincoln Saltdogs edged the Fish 4-3 at Shaw Park. Max Murphy drove in a pair of runs for the Goldeyes who saw their record fall to 13-22 on the season.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers face the B.C. Lions tonight (7:30 p.m.) at IG Field. Both teams are 2-0 to start the season. Rookie defensive back Abu Daramy-Swaray makes his CFL debut with the Blue Bombers in place of Demerio Houston. Starting running back Brady Oliveira will be a game-time decision because of a chest injury he suffered in last weeks victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina. Defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat will miss his second game in a row. He sustained a lower body injury in the season opener against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The 2023 Manitoba 55+ Games wraps up today in Portage la Prairie with 5 Pin Team Bowling, 18 Hole Golf, Pickleball, Slo-Pitch and Whist.
