The Carillon Sultans picked up their first win of the 2023 Manitoba Junior Baseball League season Wednesday night at A.D. Penner Park in Steinbach. Meech Nadeau had three hits and Mason Hartung doubled and tripled as Carillon downed the Winnipeg South Wolves 8-3. Nadeau, Hartung and Chris Tetrault drove in two runs each. Cedric Lagasse got the win as he went six strong innings, allowed just five hits and struck out four. The Sultans are 1-3 and will meet the St. Boniface Legionaires Friday at Whittier Park.


Javeyan Williams scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Winnipeg Goldeyes edged the Kane County Cougars 5-4. The Fish and Cougars wrap up their three-game series today. The first pitch is at 11 a.m. at Shaw Park. 


Canada will face Finland this afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2023 World Hockey Championship in Tampere. The other quarterfinals feature Sweden against Latvia, the United States will meet Czechia and Switzerland takes on Germany. 


It’s day 12 of Winnipeg Blue Bombers main camp. Today’s practice session at IG Field is from 10:45 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. The Bombers first pre-season game is Saturday against the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium.
