James Pinchin drilled a one-out walk-off single that scored Michael Wright from third base with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the St. Boniface Legionaires defeated the Elmwood Giants 7-6 at Whittier Park. The Legionaires lead the Manitoba Junior Baseball League's best-of-five final two games to none. Game three goes tonight at Koskie Field. 


Javeyan Williams had two hits and three rbi as the Winnipeg Goldeyes held on for a 9-8 victory over the Sioux City Explorers at Shaw Park. The Fish, who have won three in row, lead 8-0 after three innings. Goldeyes closer Samuel Adames allowed two runs in the ninth and had the tying and go-ahead runs on base as he struck out Sioux City designated hitter Vince Fernandez to end the game.


Addison Kartusch of Winnipeg and Cala Korman of Killarney made the cut at the Canadian Junior Girls Golf Championship in Hampton, New Brunswick. Kartusch was one-over par 72 Tuesday and is plus seven through 36 holes. Korman was 80 in round two and is plus 13. 71 golfers were inside the cut line which was plus 22. Crystal Zamzow of Swan River was 81 and plus 23; India Young of Carman was 87 and plus 29; Keira Krahn of Carman was 91 and plus 33; Jewel Lafleche of Winnipeg was 91 and plus 34 while Payton Oakden of Brandon was 82 and plus 39.  Korman, Jeri Lafleche and Zamzow finished in fifth place in the inter-provincial team competition. Manitoba was 18 shots back of Ontario.


Marissa Naylor is the low Manitoban heading into round two of the Canadian Women's Mid-Amateur Championship at the Mad River Golf Club in Creemore, Ontario. Naylor was five-over par 77 Tuesday and is in a tie for fifth place. Hannah Diamond and Charmaine Hayden were 77 while Katherine McGlenen and Nicole McGlenen were 88. Naylor, Diamond and Hayden are in second place in the inter-provincial team competition. Manitoba is just one shot back of Quebec. 


Canada faces Ireland in its second Group Stage match today at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Perth, Australia. Canada played to a scoreless draw with Nigeria last Thursday in Melbourne while Ireland lost 1-0 to co-host Australia.

The Carillon Sultans were eliminated by the St. Boniface Legionaires in the Manitoba Junior Baseball League semifinals. Carillon coach Rick Penner will join Clayton Dreger on the Sultans Report which airs Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. on AM 1250 Radio.
